What is Behavior Analysis?

"The field of Behavior Analysis grew out of the scientific study and principles of learning. Behavior Analysis two main branches: Experimental analysis of behavior and applied behavior analysis. The experimental analysis of behavior (EAB) is the basic science of the field and has decades of accumulated, substantial, and well-respected research literature.  This literature provides the scientific foundation for applied behavior analysis (ABA).  (www.bacb.com)

What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

"Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science in which procedures derived from the principles of behavior are systematically applied to improve socially significant behavior to a meaningful degree and to demonstrate experimentally that the procedures employed were responsible for the improvement in behavior." (Cooper, Heron, and Heward, 2007). Simply put, ABA involves using strategies that have been shown to be effective in changing behaviors in a controlled setting to change behaviors in the "real world."
